Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

Serves: 2–3


Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk or water (or a mix)
  • 1–2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1–2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp butter (optional, for richness)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, raisins, yogurt

Instructions

  1. Cook the Apples
    • In a small saucepan over medium heat, sauté diced apples with butter (if using), cinnamon, and nutmeg 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
  2. Cook the Oats
    • Add oats, milk or water, and a pinch of salt.
    • Bring to a simmer and cook 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  3. Sweeten
    • Stir in brown sugar or maple syrup if desired.
  4. Serve
    • Divide into bowls.
    • Top with extra apples, nuts, raisins, or a dollop of yogurt.

Variations

  • Baked Version: Combine oats, diced apples, milk, cinnamon, and a little sweetener in a baking dish. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes.
  • Overnight Oats: Mix oats, milk, diced apples, cinnamon, and sweetener in a jar. Refrigerate overnight. Add nuts or yogurt in the morning.
  • Spiced: Add cloves, allspice, or ginger for a warm fall flavor.
  • Caramel Apple: Drizzle a little caramel sauce over the top for an indulgent treat.
