Here’s a true homemade fudge brownie recipe — rich, dense, and super chocolatey 🍫
No box mix, just classic pantry ingredients.


Homemade Fudge Brownies

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking powder (optional — leave out for extra fudgy)
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Grease or line an 8×8-inch pan.
  2. Melt butter
    • Melt butter and let cool slightly.
  3. Mix wet ingredients
    • Stir sugar into butter.
    • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
    • Stir in vanilla.
  4. Add dry ingredients
    • Mix in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder (if using).
    • Stir just until combined.
    • Fold in chips or nuts if desired.
  5. Bake
    • Spread batter evenly in pan.
    • Bake 20–25 minutes.
    • Center should be set but still soft.
  6. Cool
    • Let cool before cutting for clean squares.

Tips for Ultra-Fudgy Brownies

  • Don’t overbake — slightly under is better.
  • Skip baking powder entirely.
  • Use dark cocoa for deeper flavor.
  • Chill before slicing for super neat edges.

Easy Variations

  • 🍫 Crinkle top: beat sugar + eggs vigorously for 1 minute
  • 🧂 Salted brownies: sprinkle flaky salt on top before baking
  • 🥜 Peanut butter swirl: swirl in ¼ cup PB
